2015 was a memorable year. It was a year filled with love, milestones and some personal and professional achievements.

We started 2015 … with a trip to Disneyland! Our family had such a good time, especially since my mom and brother joined us. It was our first trip as a family and the kids were amazing - they have asked every single day when we are going back!

On February 18th in the early hours of the morning, I took my last dose of cancer medication (I even blogged about it, here). It was a surreal and bittersweet moment, knowing that “this was it”. I had been dependent on those pills for the past three years of my life. As happy as I was to say goodbye to all the rotten side effects - I felt like my security blanket was taken away. I will be monitored for the rest of my life, my check-ins at the BC Cancer Agency carry-on and for that, I am grateful (glass half-full).

On April 5th, we lost our beloved Airedale, Stanley. Stanley was 11 years old when he died. He was my best buddy. Gosh, I miss him. I'm one of those people that believes a house is not a home without a pet... so... in August, we welcomed sweet George (another Airedale - on the right) into our home. George is 7 months old; he's cute, charming and can be very naughty! Sometimes I call him Stanley... which makes me happy and sad. George is a lot like Stan - kind and handsome - but he definitely has his own personality.

It was so surreal to be invited to the Order of British Columbia in June. I still have to pinch myself after experiencing this incredible appointment. I was asked to speak on behalf of the 2015 recipients at a private black tie dinner and even sat beside the Honourable Judith Guichon, Lieutenant Governor of British Columbia. Whether it's in the public eye or behind the scenes, there are so many people working hard every day to make their communities and our province a better place to live. How wonderful to be recognized with BC's biggest honour. It's a day I'll never forget.

On Thursday, October 22nd, the 2015 Inspiration Gala raised $4.2 million in support of immunotherapy research at the BC Cancer Agency. As Chair of the 2015 Inspiration Gala and as a recipient of BC Cancer’s wonderful care, I can’t begin to express what this special place means to me. I will continue to volunteer to help raise money to find a cure.

I continue to Chair the "Hope Starts Here" Campaign for BC Women's Hospital. The Newborn Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at BC Women's cares for the sickest babies in our Province - 1,700 babies every year! I love the work they do at Women's; in 2015 we had our first gala fundraiser, the Glow Gala. Over 1-million dollars were raised in one night, allowing the hospital to buy special incubators for the Infant Transport Team - it was a beautiful night. We're so close to meeting our goal of 17-million dollars for new equipment in the NICU.

In December we renovated our kitchen - finally!! It's something I have thought about for 3 years. Our budget was small (as far as kitchen renovations go) but the impact has been huge. I can't wait to share photos with you. It was fun to celebrate the holidays with friends and family in our beautiful new space.

There's so much that happened in 2015... most is documented on my Instagram feed, my photo diary!

Here’s to a happy, healthy and successful 2016!
